About Us
The Story of W.A. Virnau & Sons, and Sealy Tractor.
The Virnau family moved to Sealy and began farming in 1944. In 1958
Walter Virnau Jr. started the Virnau Machine Shop in Sealy. They
maintained their own equipment as well as fabricating cattle guards,
flag poles, land planes, and most anything else having to do with steel
and welding. In 1961, with his brother Harry and their father Walter
Virnau Senior, the three established the Massey Ferguson dealership W.A.
Virnau and Sons.
Over the years, the company continued to grow supporting the large
commercial rice farms in the area. In 1973 they moved to their current
location which included a new 20,000 square foot facility on 14 acres.
Since then the facility has grown to over 100,000 square feet.
In the early 90's as large scale commercial farming was on the decline,
the business began to shift focus towards smaller scale farming,
ranchers, and lawn equipment. In 1997 W.A. Virnau and Sons purchased
Sealy Tractor, a long time neighbor and friendly competitor.
Today Sealy Tractor has 17 full time employees. Including a third
generation Virnau at the helm, General Manager Jeff Virnau.
